Coming soon…something different

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Well, the Key Questions have been fun for me, but they haven’t created a conversation, so we’re moving on.  The Mining Silver website is about to undergo yet another renovation, so stay tuned for all the exciting new stuff that’ll be there once we get it done.

In the meantime, let’s end the Key question series with one last question here on the blog.  (For those of you who only see them here, we’ve been changing them out on the website every month as well.)

The last Key Question:

If it’s all that great, why aren’t Warren Buffett, Donald Trump, Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith, and the like riding around in their motor homes and playing golf???

Key Question for June — How Do YOU Know You Are Physically Fit?

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Okay, it’s summertime–for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere anyway.  Summer is when most of us get more active with our leisure pursuits.  Boating, hiking, camping, or just walking the dog more often.  So let’s use this month to play with the idea of physical fitness–the idea of  “being in shape.”  How do you know when you’re in top form physically?

There are a lot of ways to assess this.  One friend decided he needed to get to the gym when he couldn’t carry two garbage cans to the curb slung behind his shoulders anymore.  Some of us use the way our jeans fit to get past the couch potato lifestyle that has become a bit too familiar.  Some of us are more scientific, tracking heart rate, body mass index or other measurable indicators.

What’s your strategy?   Give us your comments on this month’s question:

Key Question for May

Friday, May 1st, 2009

by Mary Lloyd, CEO Mining Silver

It’s May already.  Time for a new key question.  This month, please give us your comments on this :

Who do you want more time with?

The fantasies most of us hold about retirement include a healthy dose of  “more time with___.”  Who are those people?  What do you want to be able to do with them?  And why can’t you do it NOW?

Tell us what you think!  Thanks.

Key Question — April

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

From Mary Lloyd, Mining Silver

This is the third of our year-long series of questions.  And this month’s comes as March goes out like a lion for a lot of us.  Flooding, snowstorms, and other nasty weather are worrying us all over the country.  And globally, we are all still stuck with this mess of an economy.  That’s a lot to get stressed about.  And most of us know all too well what stress feels like.
This month, let’s flip that and look at the opposite.  Let’s consider what “relaxed” feels like.  For April, please give us your comments to the following question:

How do you know when you’re relaxed?

Please take the time to register and leave your opinion.  We’d love to hear what you think!

Key Question for March: What Is “Home” Supposed to Feel Like?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Okay….we got some great replies when we started this in February.  Let’s see what a new topic discovers.  The question for March 2009 is :

What is “home” supposed to feel like?

Think about it only briefly if at all.  When you come “home” what do you want it to feel like?

Please respond on the blog  if at all possible (rather than doing “Contact Us”) so we can build off each other’s answers.  You will need to register with WordPress for this site. We are not collecting data when you do that.  It’s just to keep the spam generating software from taking over the blog and dumping a lot of garbage over what we really want to talk about.

If you have trouble, take a deep breath and try again.  It is doable and we need to learn how to get this kind of stuff done without a panic attack.  Also, once you are logged on, you may have to click on the blue words  “___ comments”  (the number already made) to leave a comment.  You may also need to scroll down the page to get to the box where you can actually type in a response.

THANK YOU for whatever you choose to add to the converation.

Mary Lloyd

The Key Question

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

This is a new category on The Silver Mine and one that I hope becomes more yours than mine.   We will begin posting a different key question on the homepage of www.mining-silver.com every month to see what people think of some not-so-typical considerations you need to take into retirement.

For February, the question is HOW LONG IS THE IDEAL VACATION?

Tell us what you think.  Then, at the end of the month, I’ll knit it all together and see what we’ve discovered between us.

This will only work if you say something though.  So what’s YOUR opinion?  HOW LONG IS THE IDEAL VACATION?

Thanks for your comments.
